  35.         geopolitical position along the world's busiest shipping lanes and 
  36.         close to Arabian oilfields. 12% of the land is arable. 90% of the work 
  37.         force is involved with agriculture. In 1986 Ethiopia spent over 20% of 
  38.         its central government budget on its military. Member of UN since 1945.
